| Our Prices You may have noticed that we are offering our books for sale on our site at less than retail price. We started this as a temporary discount in celebration of the launch of JUST PERFECT. We have decided to continue this discount in response to the difficult economic times we are all currently facing. When you buy directly from us, we can offer you a better price because we do not have to pay the high percentage fees other vendors charge us. Black Plume Books has always been dedicated to publishing quality children's books and offering them to the reader at the fairest possible price. We strive to help foster the love of books and reading in children and know that the best way to do this is to provide children the opportunity to own a book that they can treasure for life. Afterall, books have no expiration date and never go out of style. |
| Forgive Us As We Brag We are thrilled to announce that our books continue to be recognized by literary awards competitions. As we reported in the last Raven's Tale, JUST PERFECT: MORE ADVENTURES OF JULES THE LIGHTHOUSE DOG was selected for recognition as a Finalist in the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. On July 11th we learned that all of our books were medal winners in the Young Voices Foundation Awards. JUST PERFECT received the Silver Medal in the Children's Picture Book - All Ages Category. JULES THE LIGHTHOUSE DOG received the Silver Medal in the Children's Picture Book - Legacy Category. KID CANINE - SUPERHERO! was awarded the Bronze Medal in the Children's Picture Book - All Ages Category. The Young Voices Foundation Awards honor and identify books and media that inspire, mentor and educate youth and their families. The judges look for books that parents will love to read to their children, books that captures the imagination of the reluctant reader, and books that incorporate a positive message in an inviting and entertaining format. Judging is based on content, originality, design, and production quality. The judging panel includes published authors, editors, publishers, educators, young readers, parents, and family counselors. We could not be happier to have been selected worthy of medals from this foundation whose mission truly reflects all that we hope to achieve with our books. |
| Our Pacific Northwest Book Tour From April 1st though July 15th P.T. Custard and Dill, the real Kid Canine, took part in a book tour of the Northwest in support of our newest release JUST PERFECT: MORE ADVENTURES OF JULES THE LIGHTHOUSE DOG. Beginning at the Bernese Mountain Dog National Specialty in Portland,OR with the official launch of the book and continuing up and down the Oregon coast and through central Oregon, the tour helped to introduce our books to young readers and their families. Throughout it all, Dill was truly a superhero, posing for pictures, accepting treats and allowing his new fans to pet him. Good Boy Dill!!!! |
